Interns will be responsible for reading and responding to query letters, book proposals and manuscripts; they will work closely with agents to evaluate material and prospective clients. In addition to assisting with general office duties (i.e., filing, answering phones, etc.), interns will have the opportunity to work on research projects and interact with clients and editors. Interns will also assist in special marketing and digital publishing projects. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to become familiar with the publishing industry. We’re looking for self-motivated, committed, and organized interns. Premium will be placed on ability to problem-solve and multitask, articulate strengths and weaknesses of evaluated material, and follow direction. Previous experience with social media platforms and blog/content management systems like WordPress a plus. Pay is $15/hr and/or course credit.
